About Me

Greetings! I'm Dr. Jomo Merritt, an award-winning screenwriter, celebrated novelist, and committed educator. A deep passion for storytelling has always driven me. This journey began in my hometown of Albany, GA and led me to attain a Doctorate in Education Curriculum And Instruction.

My career is marked by noteworthy achievements in screenwriting. Scripts such as "Journal of a Dinka Boy" and "The Miracle of Isabella" have garnered recognition at esteemed film festivals. As a novelist, my work "Sons of a Mauffen King: Birthright Betrayal" earned accolades for its engaging narrative.

In addition to writing, I channel my expertise into shaping the writing skills of others. I currently serve as an Effective Writing Center Advisor at the University Of Maryland Global Campus and as an Academic Writing Coach at Northcentral University. My approach combines technical guidance with the nurturing of creativity and narrative craft.

I see storytelling as a powerful tool to explore and represent diverse experiences, and I strive to reflect this in all my endeavors. Whether it's on the page or in the classroom, I'm dedicated to using my skills to create compelling narratives and inspire others to do the same. Welcome to my portfolio!

“You can make anything by writing.”
